I have many dreams and I am anxiously waiting to see how the play out in the future. My first dream is to go to a great college with an awesome criminal justice department where I can where major in criminal justice/law enforcement. I have always wanted to go to San Diego State University but I have not completely decided yet because I want to see if I can find a college with a better law enforcement program. An obstacle that I might face and have to overcome would be being able to afford the college of my choice. I will overcome this obstacle by applying for all of the grant and scholarship opportunities that I receive. I have wanted to be a police officer since I was in kindergarten and I guess it is just the desire to help other people and give back to the community that drives me to become a police officer. Also, if I have a degree in criminal justice and not just law enforcement I would have a lot of many other job opportunities if being a police officer was not for me. Some of the obstacles that stand in the way of my dream are the fact that I am absolutely terrified speeches and being the center of attention in a larger group of people. For example, when I have to give a speech at school I am terrified. I tend to move my hands at my side, occasionally stutter, and not look at the audience I am speaking to. That is all going to have to change because I will be talking to a lot of unknown people as a police officer and I will have to look professional and not like I am afraid to talk to someone. I will overcome this obstacle by participating more in class and knowing that the whole class looking and listening to me will help me get over that fear just with the people I know around me. Once I accomplish these dreams I plan on buying a nice house, settling down, and maybe starting a family. I know this is going to be a promising future and I hope it plays out the way I want it to so that I get everything that I have dreamed about.
